The Client's Journey
We meet. We map the territory.
Every great book starts with a conversation. Tell us about your project;
- where you are,
- what you're working on, and
- what you're hoping to achieve.
There are no wrong answers at this stage.
Whether you have a finished manuscript, a half-formed idea, or a STEAM workbook that needs a publisher who understands, this is where it begins.
Fill in our contact form and give us as much or as little as you'd like.
We read everything.
What to include
A brief description of your project and what kind of support you're looking for.
What happens next
You'll receive an acknowledgement within 24 hours. A real person, not an auto-reply.
This is just a conversation. No commitment, no fee, no obligation at this stage.
We put it in writing. No surprises.
Free 30-min call to scope your needs.
This is where we get to know each other, understand your vision, and figure out together what your book needs to become what it should be.
We'll ask you about your audience, your timeline, your ambitions. We'll share what we've published, how we work, and what we think we can bring to your project.
Some of our best collaborations have started here, with a conversation that went longer than 30 minutes because neither side wanted to stop.
"We don't think of ourselves as service providers and clients. We think of this as two people deciding whether to build something together. The 30 minutes is just the introduction."
Within a 1-2 weeks of your consultation, you'll receive a written proposal, a clear, honest document that sets out exactly what we'll do, how long it will take, and what it will cost. No hidden fees, no vague language.
The proposal is built around your project specifically. It will include a recommended service package, a production timeline with milestones, a breakdown of deliverables, and our fee structure.
We'll talk you through it, answer every question, and adjust it until it truly reflects what you need.
This is where the book becomes real.
Production is the heart of what we do. Our editors, designers and publishing team work closely with you through every phase , not as gatekeepers, but as collaborators who are just as invested in your book as you are.
You'll have a dedicated point of contact throughout. At each milestone; manuscript review, first layout, cover design, proof, you'll see the work, give feedback, and shape the direction. Nothing moves forward without your approval. We believe that the best books come from authors who feel heard, not managed.
Editing
Developmental, line and copy editing with full author review at each stage
Design
Cover and interior design rooted in African visual identity
Proofing
Final-pass proofreading before print and digital files are signed off.
Your book goes into the world. And we keep going.
Launch day is not the end of our relationship, it's the beginning of your book's life. We coordinate your launch, list your title across our distribution network, and make sure your book reaches the readers who need it.
Your book will be available through Kenyan and East African bookshops, the Inkazi Books online shop, school and university supply channels, and international distribution partners. We'll support your launch with press coordination, social assets, and, if you're up for it, an event at one of our partner venues in Nairobi or beyond.
